Plagiarism & Originality
Balkanistic Worlds requires all submitted manuscripts to be original and to meet accepted standards of academic integrity.
Authors must ensure that submitted work:
- is their original work;
- has not been published previously, except where appropriately disclosed and justified;
- is not under consideration by another journal;
- properly acknowledges and cites all sources;
- does not contain plagiarism or inappropriate reuse of previously published material.
Plagiarism includes presenting another person's ideas, words, data, images, or other scholarly material as one's own without appropriate acknowledgment. Self-plagiarism and substantial duplication of previously published material are also unacceptable.
The journal may use plagiarism-detection and similarity-checking tools as part of the editorial assessment.
If plagiarism or substantial duplication is identified, the manuscript may be rejected. If misconduct is discovered after publication, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, as appropriate.
Authors remain responsible for the originality and integrity of their submissions.
