Abstract

The monograph aims at the systematization and study of the preserved literary and written heritage of Dr. Albert Long. Separate chapters present his literary activities, an analysis of his conceptions of language, the reception of his translations and other writings, his activities as a publicist. Letters and documents trace his activities as a public figure and philanthropist. All this is considered in the essential context of his missionary and educational work. The monograph demonstrates a range of research methods - descriptive, comparative, historical-literary, and at times cultural studies - that help to contextualize the contributions of A. Long in the literary and cultural life of the Bulgarians in the second half of the 19th century.
