Abstract

Irada Bagirova is Professor at the Insitute of History of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences in Baku. In a conversayion with Marijana Piskova she speaks about the radical changes in the Azerbaijani historiography in the last decades after the collapse of the USSR in 1991 as well as about her contribution to these transformations.  The Azerbaijani Democratic Republic (1918 - 1920) became a major historiographical point of reference, historians brought a large body of sources banned in Soviet times into scholarly circulation and established a national school of history.
