Abstract

The present study examines translation asymmetry in French, English, and Georgian languages (L1→L2 and L2→L1). While translation is often considered symmetrical in both directions (L1→L2 and L2→L1), this paper draws on the results of an em-pirical study that identifies cases of asymmetry in these languages. Such asymmetry poses significant challenges in translation. To overcome these challenges, a deep understanding of cultural contexts and a broader range of semantic fields are re-quired.
