Aims

Balkanistic Worlds aims to promote high-quality interdisciplinary research on Southeast Europe, the Balkans, the Black Sea region, and the Caucasus and to facilitate scholarly dialogue across national, linguistic, disciplinary, and methodological boundaries.

The journal provides a platform for original research that contributes to the understanding of the historical development, cultural diversity, social transformations, political processes, intellectual traditions, and contemporary challenges of the regions under study.

A central objective of the journal is to encourage comparative and transnational approaches that place local and regional phenomena within wider European and global contexts.

Although the Balkans and Southeast Europe constitute the journal's principal geographical focus, Balkanistic Worlds adopts an open and comparative understanding of the region. Contributions may examine the Black Sea region, the Caucasus, Central and Eastern Europe, and other areas where meaningful historical, cultural, linguistic, social, or political connections with the Balkans can be demonstrated.

The journal welcomes studies that move beyond strictly national frameworks and explore cross-border processes, networks, exchanges, entanglements, and comparative experiences.

Scholarly Standards

All research articles submitted to Balkanistic Worlds undergo editorial assessment and double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts.

The journal seeks to publish research that demonstrates methodological clarity, engagement with relevant scholarship, appropriate use of sources and evidence, and a clear contribution to existing knowledge.
